Each sister club relationship will be established by vote of the
respective boards, and with a formal acknowledgement in the form of an
exchange of certificates, signed and dated by each club’s president at
the time. The certificate will be valid throughout the lifetime of the
relationship, regardless of changes in officers.
-
The presidents of each club will automatically be a member of the
other club. RCA will pay the annual Astronomical League dues for the
president(s) of our sister club(s).
-
Each club will select a liaison for the purpose of managing the
relationship between the clubs.
-
The president or liaison of each club will exchange greetings and club
information at least once every three months.
-
The president or liaison of each club may participate on the club
forum site and/or on the email list.
-
Each club will maintain a prominent link to the other’s club on its
website, if possible.
-
Each club will provide an introductory article for the other’s club
that gives information about the club’s history, activities and
members.
-
Members of sister clubs may submit articles for each other’s club
communications.
-
Although English is the lingua franca of today, clubs may
communicate in their own language(s). It will be the responsibility
of the sister club(s) to find and maintain contacts with people who
can translate.
-
Sister club members will welcome each other, to the extent possible,
when members travel to each other’s cities.
-
If and when members of sister clubs come to Portland, they may check
out books and telescopes from the RCA library, to the extent
practicable.
-
The clubs will actively search out joint astronomical projects.
-
The clubs may help each other in obtaining equipment and supplies that
they may need.
-
If one or the other club disbands or decides not to continue as a
sister club, a simple letter to the current or last-known president
will suffice to end the relationship.
